The Gift Film
The Gift of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu is a five part film of about 100 minutes, 20 minutes each part. A brief background is given, followed by the four reasons for Śrīman Mahāprabhu’s descent and a deliberation on a conditioned soul seeking His mercy. In the final 20 minutes, devotees express their appreciation for Śrīla Bhaktivedānta Svāmī Prabhupāda and Śrīla Bhaktivedānta Nārāyaṇa Gosvāmī Mahārāja.
Our Preparation
Devotees had expressed for a while that something should come out in film that shares Śrīla Nārāyaṇa Gosvāmī Mahārāja’s teachings. In mulling over possible topics, we recalled Śrīla Gurudeva’s repeated emphasis on the purpose of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu’s descent and proceeded to interview devotees about this.
For the next four years, our tiny team researched and collected quotes, matched them with interviews, incorporated kīrtanas, wrote narratives, and sifted through thousands of images, artwork, and archival clips. A community of dedicated sevakas gathered, freely offering their services in their area of competence – researching, recording, image editing, transcribing, designing, music-mixing, sound editing (a challenge with some recordings) and giving feedback. We are deeply grateful to have worked with a team of such dedicated and responsible devotees.
Our prayer is that Śrīla Nārāyaṇa Gosvāmī Mahārāja and the Vaiṣṇavas are satisfied by our humble efforts.
